"My Pet Goat" Moments

They say that there are only two My Pet Goat Moments that occurred during the tenure of The Decider.  These my pet goat moments are key points in time where The Decider Dithered rather than Decisively Decide.  Or where he simply froze.  They say this happened twice. But there’s gotta be more than just two My Pet Goat Moments.

The first My Pet Goat Moment occurred on 9-11 when Bush froze after learning that the Nation was under attack and then took Air Force One to Kansas to collect his wits.  The Second My Pet Goat Moment occurred as Russian Tanks rolled while Bush and Putin yucked it up during the Olympics.  Bush froze at this juncture they say.

There's gotta be other examples, like say:

  • the decision to invade Iraq even after being told that there was evidence that Iraq had no WMD’s or Al Qaeda connections;
  • the decision to declare Mission Accomplished after being briefed otherwise;
  • the decision to disband the Iraqi Army instead of using it to secure Iraq;
  • the decision to engage in radical debaathification even though you’d need teachers and public service sector workers to rebuild Iraq; and
  • the decision to attend fundraisers in San Diego and Arizona after being briefed on the potential destructive power of Hurricane Katrina and that worst case scenarios put loss of life estimates near 40,000 people.

Seems like there’d be more than just two my pet goat moments to list from The Decider’s Tenure in office.  Sure some of these situation may be more an example of Bush exercising bad judgement, as opposed to those situations in which he froze and was unable to act.  But the distinction between the two can be blurred. For example take the Iraq War: presumably there was a point in time before the invasion where George could have told Dick no, but he didn't.

With all this being said, I think it is fair to say that there were many instances where George Bush did not do a heck of a job as President.

He's Probably got the hang of it by now. So give'em another chance. And with the Supreme Court and the good Lord on his side, why not give it a try. Write in Bush.
