UPDATE: John Hinderaker - Stupid Because He Wants to Be

Global Warming Causes Blizzards!

That's what Time is trying to tell us. Four feet of snow? It's just more evidence of global warming!

You know you're not dealing in the realm of science when anything that happens is adopted as confirmation of a hypothesis. A scientific theory is one that generates predictions that can be verified or falsified. Global warming doesn't qualify.

Actually the Time article did not say this. Here is what it actually reported:

There is some evidence that climate change could in fact make such massive snowstorms more common, even as the world continues to warm. As the meteorologist Jeff Masters points out in his excellentblog at Weather Underground, the two major storms that hit Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., this winter - in December and during the first weekend of February - are already among the 10 heaviest snowfalls those cities have ever recorded. The chance of that happening in the same winter is incredibly unlikely.
But there have been hints that it was coming. The 2009 U.S. Climate Impacts Report found that large-scale cold-weather storm systems have gradually tracked to the north in the U.S. over the past 50 years. While the frequency of storms in the middle latitudes has decreased as the climate has warmed, the intensity of those storms has increased. That's in part because of global warming - hotter air can hold more moisture, so when a storm gathers it can unleash massive amounts of snow. Colder air, by contrast, is drier; if we were in a truly vicious cold snap, like the one that occurred over much of the East Coast during parts of January, we would be unlikely to see heavy snowfall.(See pictures of the effects of global warming.)

Climate models also suggest that while global warming may not make hurricanes more common, it could wellintensify the storms that do occur and make them more destructive.

What climate change brings in addition to a hotter earth is a likelihood that weather patterns will change. That is all Time was saying.

And what AGW theory tells us is that increasing levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere will absorb increasing amounts of heat. This leads to a warmer globe. Are other factors involved as well? Possibly and it doesn't hurt to try to determine if other factors exist. But the fact that Carbon dioxide absorbs heat is .... well a fact. That fact that man is changing the composition of the atmosphere is also undeniable.

Hinderaker may not recall junior high school science classes, but I'm sure if he tried he might be able to figure it out. Hinderacket most likely was not born stupid, however somewhere along the way he made that choice.

UPDATE:
Uh-oh, you mean there is a difference between WEATHER and CLIMATE? Apparently so and according to those pesky climate scientists, it is the warmest January in 32 years and the 3rd warmest month on record overall.

The Global Warming Conspiracy keeps getting larger. According to the wingnut-O-sphere it must go something like this:
First the Climate Scientists started the conspiracy, then the Polar Icecaps decided they wanted in on the action and started to melt rapidly, don't forget those Farmers who are planting crops further NORTH than they should be (farmers are such assholes) and now the f-ing month of January is on board trying to fool the Wingnuttariat into believing in this obvious hoax. DAMN you January!
What's a winger like Hinderaker to do, but to stay ignorant. Its much easier I guess.

UPDATE:

Look at the spike in CO2 levels. I wonder what is going on to cause the spike? If you are a clever winger, you will note that the notoriously liberal Mona Loa is supplying the data that documents the spike. Everybody knows that volcanoes active participants in the AGW conspiracy. Ice sheets (see polar caps above) are definitely major players in perpetuating the hoax as well.

Must be tough being a wingnut.

He's Probably got the hang of it by now. So give'em another chance. And with the Supreme Court and the good Lord on his side, why not give it a try. Write in Bush.
