This statement from Newt indicating that the growth of the Gingrich Campaign will be like the growth of Walmart, lead many to believe that Newt may not be sane:
“I actually think this is a little bit like watching Walmart grow,” he said before taking the stage with his wife, Callista, at Yorba Linda’s Nixon Library on Wednesday evening.
“You watch the way we’re developing new approaches and new ideas and the way we’re using the internet – I think over the next 60 days you will see a campaign that is so fundamentally different from anything you’ve seen."
At the heart of his pitch is a view of America of a critical crossroads that he calls “the third great choosing,” comparing it to the American revolution and the abolition of slavery.
“We’re at a very core point of choosing between a European model of secularism and bureaucratic socialism, and a reversion to American exceptionalism based on our definition of independence,” he said.
And yes, Newt is a drama queen having already referred to his campaign as the most significant since 1860. Heck if this election is gonna be like the one in 1860, that’s fine with me. I seem to recall that one of the political parties split into thirds over the issue of slavery. I don’t think Gingrich can lead a third party, but if he wants to try, that is fine. Actually if one of the Tea Bag candidates want to form a new Party over the issue of Health Insurance Slavery, Bachmann would be a perfect candidate for the job. Put Bachmann, Paul, Romney and Obama on the Ballot and see what happens. That is the 1860 scenario.
And of course the declaration of independence, Newt worries about, called out the importance respecting to opinions of the Nations of the world which today would be code talk for Socialism or a scary UN plot to take over America.
Newt really should just pack it in.
