Mitt Romney has the support of George W. Bush.
“I’m for Mitt Romney,” Bush told ABC News this morning as the doors of an elevator closed on him, after he gave a speech on human rights a block from his old home — the White House.
Bush’s endorsement isn’t a surprise, given that Romney is virtually the Republican Party’s nominee. But the 43rd president has been absent from the 2012 campaign and hasn’t made any public comments showing his support for Romney.
Why wouldn't Romney
want George W Bush to campaign for him?
Bush has that whole "Protect Traditional Marriage from the
Gays" attack line down cold from 2004 election. Bush could pull this off without breaking a
sweat. When Willard starts talking about Marriage, folk start thinking about
his family's polygamous heritage. Sure this ain't fair, but life ain't fair -
just ask some of the folks that used to work for Romney.
And besides,
Romney's economic plan has been stolen from the Bush Administration. Why would you want a wishy washy pretender
like Romney making the case for returning to economic policies of the Bush
Administration, when you could have the real deal doing it himself?
And who can forget,
just like Bush, Romney was a big backer of the Bailout. George
could remind folks of Willard's bravery and that Willard was there for
Bush when he needed him.
I say give Bush a
chance.
